Teenage Tooth Whitening Is It Safe
Below is a great YouTube video that explains some of the complications teens can have with tooth whitening. Essentially, just as the video shows teenager’s teeth have not fully developed especially the nerves which shrink as you enter adulthood.
The bleaching agent used in laser whitening like Zoom can damage these nerves and case damage to teen’s teeth. But it is not just the professional laser whitening that can cause damages. Even the over the counter gel whitening can be unsafe for teenagers. The bleaching agents in the over the counter products have peroxides which sometimes cause sensitivity to the gums and with teenagers it can cause gum damage.
The bottom-line is it is better to be safe then sorry when risking your teenager’s dental health.
